You complain about the contrast in life, yet the contrast, at present, is also what gives you joy. If you were never hungry, even the best meal would not heighten your heart nor appetite. If you were never hot, how would you know what it is to be cool? You have heard this argument.

Of course, contrast is a mystery to you. You wonder how there can be war and peace in the same world. How can there be such beautiful heart-warming people in the world and yet also those who are unkind and heartless? How can there be, at the same time, greed and generosity? How can joy and pain co-exist? The list goes on.

The day will come when the attributes to life on Earth that are not happiness-building will simply fall away. There just won’t be the negativity any longer. This is happening now. You may not always see evidence of it, yet there is a growing field of all that you desire for yourself and for humanity. There will be no need for extremes. The world will have equanimity, and you will laugh more and cry less. All tears will be wiped away.

You will be able to appreciate without any need for contrast. Contrast will be old-fashioned thinking. There will not be the need for marked contrast nor will there be any perceived merit. There will still be colors and tastes. There will be enough contrast without a need for opposition. Contrast will be welcomed and loved, and no one will be set apart, and nothing set apart, no country set apart from another, for the world will practice its natural state of Oneness in full bloom. It will be springtime for the world of men.

Without greed, you will not eat too much, and so you will enjoy food. You will not eat too much nor too often. You will leave room for appetite. There will be food enough for all. There will be balance in every area of life rather than marked contrast.

There never was a need for war. The perceived need for war is diminishing. Desire for peace and abolishment of war is not just rhetoric now. No one will need war for the excitement of it. No one will need to make war, nor make a statement for war. The world will see more clearly. The world will be more at peace with itself. There will be no perceived need for uproar. Uproar will be seen as the foolishness it is.

Competitiveness will have left. Companionship will have gained. Cooperation and collaboration will be the lay of the land. Nothing else will be considered. Goodness and mercy shall follow you all the days of your life. Nothing but goodness and mercy will occur to anyone.

All the goodness from hearts will pour forth. It is that simple. There will no longer be travesties of justice. Justice will not even be thought of. Love will be thought of. No longer will Human Beings imprison others, for they will know it is themselves they imprison.

When Oneness prevails, who would cut off his own head and call it justice? Common-sense compassion will fly its flag. There will be a consensus of hearts. Minds will not be stuck on themselves. Hearts will not be swayed. Angry minds will no longer exist. And if they did, no one would follow them. Puppies wag their tails and follow along, but man will follow the highest in his heart. That will be the only thing on Earth to follow.

Summer sun or winter snow, life is simply life. It is like Old Man River who just keeps rolling along. There is a steadiness to life. Life doesn’t run out of itself, beloveds. Life is The Little Engine That Could.

Life meets you every day. It at least meets you half-way. Sometimes you do want life to sweep you up, and other times you don’t, yet life rolls along for you. It wants to be considered your friend. Certainly, life does not want to be taken for an adversary.

Life kind of feels that it is a controversial subject with you, that you have an on and off romance with it. One day it is in your good graces, and another you spurn it, yet life is doing nothing but rolling along. The scenery may be different. Sometimes the weather is hot or it is cold. Sometimes you feel that life is a barrel going over Niagara Falls, and you are inside the barrel being bumped plenty at the mercy of circumstance, and yet, there is no turning off life. There is no switch for it. The whole sum and substance of life is life itself. It is an energy, and that energy just keeps rolling along, taking you with it, not exactly like cargo, even though you sometimes think so.

There has been a tendency for you to see a chewed corner of life. You see that corner as life unmistakable, yet a corner is hardly the whole extent The caboose is not the whole train. There is more to life than the last car you happen to see. There is a powerful engine that moves life. Hop on that train, beloveds, and see where it takes you. While you are along for the ride, you might as well sit back and enjoy the sights you pass.

And when you get off the present train and hop onto another, you are still infinitely you. Of course, a much more enlightened you. Of course, you have a lot more ahead of you. A hot fudge sundae is made of more than the cherry on top. To know what a hot fudge sundae is, you have to eat the whole thing. You might as well, and you might as well savor every mouthful of life. It is not true that you pass this way only once. Dearest child, you are eternally infinitely passing this way. There is no getting off. The next turn may bring you to the most glorious peak of all.

Whatever you may feel at one infinitesimal moment, the ride is short. It is too short to miss any of it. It is too ungrateful of you to push it aside. Don’t close your eyes. Drink in the sights. Keep your eyes wide open. You cannot fall. Even when you think you’re on a wild ride, you cannot fall. You can only be in life wherever you may think you are and whatever you make of it.

Life does not always appear to you as a bed of roses, nor does it always appear as a bed of nails. Maybe it is like one of those mattresses that is self-fitting. Make yourself at ease, beloveds.

No, beloveds, do not try to bail out of the ship. Do not even contemplate it. From life you can only go into life. Okay, life may not always come dressed as a bowl of cherries. It may even seem empty to you. Then it is for you to fill the bowl.

Beloveds, pick life and fill the bowl with it. Make life a delicious bowl of granola.

What gift will you give to Me today? That is the same as to say: What gift will you give yourself today? Certainly, you will not ask too much of yourself. That you would ease into life and not make so many demands on yourself – that, alone, would be a great gift to Me. You have, indeed, been demanding. In your estimation, you have never quite made the mark. In your estimation, you always fell short. There was more you were supposed to be. There was more you were supposed to do, so you tell yourself.

Now, I will tell you to do less and ask less of yourself. I will tell you to allow yourself some sense of satisfaction, sense of job well done, not almost done, not sort of done, but done, and done well.

I am asking you to be nicer to yourself. Be easier to please. Be happy with less.

Heretofore, you may have set standards impossible to fulfill. Sometimes, I swear, you are like a donkey who has been beaten every day and is so used to it, he has come to expect it, as if something would be missing if he were given a little praise and encouragement instead of a beating!

Will you no longer be like that donkey? Will you give yourself some grace? Will you stop beating up on yourself? When are you going to? When would you begin to see yourself in a very good light? You may think I am asking you to forgive yourself for all your inadequacies. I am telling you that there is nothing to forgive, except perhaps, for being unappreciative of yourself.

I want to tell you that I know you do the best you can, and that is good enough for Me. Can that not be good enough for you? Can you not embrace My child as I would wish that you be embraced? Begin now to let go of all the perceived impediments and accept yourself as a blessed Being. You ask too much of yourself. You ask to be perfect in the eyes of the world and everyone in it. Do you see how you ask a lot?

I ask you to go easier on yourself.

If you did not make the bed today, that’s all right. I don’t mind. Whatever you didn’t do today, it’s okay with Me.

I adjure you to find less fault. I adjure you to find no fault at all. I adjure you to love yourself more, and life more, and the world and all those other imperfect people in it more. I am asking you to be a child of God who is easy to please. Will you be that child for Me? Will you kindly take pleasure in daily life every day? Will you, as a matter of fact, beam at the world and call it yours and love it for all you are worth?

Yes, will you look at everything through different glasses? I think you have perhaps been too near-sighted. I think you have perhaps been looking at yourself through a microscope. Start now to look at yourself through the lens of love. When were you going to, beloveds? When were you going to be nice to yourself? Some day is not soon enough. Change the direction of your thoughts today, right now, this minute.

Acknowledge that you are not so bad. Acknowledge that you are good, indeed, very good, excellent. Why on Earth, beloveds, would you be fussier than I am? I like you. I appreciate you. I love you. If I can, why can’t you? Be generous, and love yourself, and don’t give yourself such a hard time.

Let Me speak to you of love:

If you must have a need, then let your need be to reveal love. Do not have the idea that you must find love, receive love, tally up love for any reason. Your focus is on the giving of love. This is what you have in mind. You are bent on giving love. You lean toward the sun, that is all it is. You do not put a shade over the sun of your heart. You open the shutters wide. You have no shutters. You took them off long ago. You don’t even know what you did with them, yet you know they are nowhere to be found. Only the sun can be found, and the sun needs no permission to shine. Rain or shine, the sun shines. And so are you the sunshine of My Creation.

Now what do you say:

“Dear God, in every situation, I will consider that love is for me to give. This is my responsibility, to give love, plain and simple. The love may be silent, yet I will give it. If I have a kind word to give, I will give it. I will not be a do-gooder, but I will do good. I understand that it is not my inky-dinky love that I give, dear God. I understand very well that it is Your love I give through me. It is a little enough thing I do to pass on your love. You asked me to give it. You told me I would have much opportunity to give it and that You would help me rise to the occasion.

“In accordance with Your wishes, no longer do I even think about what love may be due me. That is the farthest thing from my mind. I have a cash account of love that You placed in the bank of my heart. You asked me to spend it, not to make a big show of it, but to spend it nevertheless. I am not even to count the love I give. I am to just give it without a tally. And so I gladly spend the love account you bequeathed to me. You bequeathed it to me as Your heir. I can never cash out this account. I can never spend it foolishly, for, by the love I give, I am enriched. I cannot extend Your love without feeling the flow of Your love tripping from my heart. What more would I ask to feel but that?

“I do not make myself a saint. I spend Your love, that’s all. I give myself the pleasure of giving Your love. There is no occasion that does not require Your love, and, somehow, in Your love and wisdom, You gave me this account in trust. You have trust that I will spend it according to Your Will. You will me to be an avid spender of this bank account You gave to me. You do not question my spending. You keep no account of it. You do not call me to task. You have told me that it is the most natural thing in the world that I spend the love You have so generously given to me to spend.

“You told me that You would send many to me who need a sign of Your love. They have it to give just as much as I do, yet they have not yet understood to divest themselves of the love. They have squeezed tight the love You gave to them, and so the love within them goes out only in starts and spurts. Some have the idea that love is to come in first before they give some away. They have become accountants of love, CPA’s of love. And so You have asked me to show them by my example to consider love one way only. It is all to be Exit. Love must exit the heart so there is plenty of space for a new supply to enter. Now I am concerned only with the Exit of love and not the Entrance, for You are the One Who without fail will surge My heart with more love to give.

“I thank You, dear God, for entrusting me with Your love.”

When you have a need to control, that also shows insecurity. One who controls may look confident, but that is a false front, beloveds. The need to control comes from lack of confidence.

You cannot control everyone in your house. You cannot even make yourself do all that you wish you would. Pin yourself down, if you must, and then you won’t need to pin anyone else down. But I am not asking you to control yourself either. Control reveals a narrow vision. You are not a sled dog that needs to be controlled.

Leading is different from control. A true leader inspires, and his inspiration comes from Truth. He makes you happy. There are those who are not true, and they can also make you happy for a while. But We are not really talking about other people now. We are talking about you.

When you feel a need to control, take that as an alarm going off. Control is deeply related to judgment. You are trying to make someone go your way whether they see it your way or not. Of course, you mean it for good, but that is not good enough. Release your need for control. First of all, you don’t need it. You are better off without it. The whole world is better off without it. Control offers very limited opportunity. It is a sliver of life whereas life is boundless.

You cannot choose another’s life for him without mutual suffering. When there is control, there are hard feelings. You can count on it.

Where there is freedom, everyone breathes better.

When you have control issues, and so many do, you not only infringe upon others, you infringe upon yourself. How easily you become irate when your will is not followed. Abandon control. Listen more instead.

Beloveds, remember My will, and I will that the bell of freedom ring.

Where did this idea of control come from anyway? Control is not empowerment, yet it seems to pass for such. Control is no more than trying to get your way. Even when you succeed, your joy is short-lived. You yourself know it is a hollow victory. It is a poor bargain, your will over another’s will. Isn’t it taught in kindergarten that you cannot always have your own way?

You don’t like it when someone else tries to control you. In fact, you get mightily annoyed. Are you to be the only person in your life to exact control over another? Have some laughs instead. How serious control is. How it must be obeyed in order to keep peace. How insolent it is really. Choose fun instead.

Say what you think, but don’t be bossy. Don’t order anyone around. Invite. The most you can do is to invite. The least you can do is not try to take control.

Control is rampant, and it is so unsatisfying. Whether control comes from an individual in his home or from a nation in the world, control gives a poor showing. Not one of My children is to be subject to another. You are not meant to be a Tsar, and no one is meant to be subjected to you. Do not be dependent upon control for your sense of self-worth, and do not make anyone dependent upon your will.

If you want joy in life, you have to let go of your perceived need to control. Beloveds, I request that you abandon any remnant of your need to control. Throw it away like an old rag. Control is of no use to you. No use at all.

Need is a word you don’t need. Needing is an affront to yourself. When you feel you need, you are feeling needy. Feeling needy, you put yourself in a weak position. Needing is not in your best interest, beloveds. If need is your position in life, then change your position. There are much better places for you to come from than need. Need is the last place you want to come from.

Once you get off your need kick, the whole spectrum of your life will change simply because you changed your outlook. The time has come, beloveds. Get up off that Needy Chair and sit in the chair marked I Have Everything.

Without question, you really need to feel that you have no need. You have wants and desires but not need. Needing puts you in a false position. It is a kind of reverse fairy tale, for the ending is not happy. Stay away from need. It is the last thing you need.

What is wrong with needing, you might ask. What is wrong is that it puts you in the position of a beggar. If you see yourself as someone needing love, for example, you will pick up crumbs of it off the street. You will believe that you are dependent upon a handout from someone else, perhaps even anyone else.

One who feels needy will become a taker, a user, yes, even you. With all your good intentions, as one who feels needy, you take, you contrive ways to be given what you feel you must have and have not received. How much love is enough for you? How much do you feel you lack? How much do you feel you have to have? Change your perception. Turn your life around.

You are not so dependent upon love from the outside as you seem to think. It is from yourself that you need to find love. You already know that I love you with all the love on Heaven and Earth. When you can feel nourished by My love, you will hold more love for yourself. Loving yourself, you will not be desperate, beloveds. When you say you need, you are saying you are desperate. Do not even be desperate to give love. Give love, but be not desperate. Come from a position of not needing.

Perhaps you say you need a job. Fine, go get a job. You will get a better job faster when you do not come from a place of overweaning need. Come from a place of confidence instead. Who needs a needer? Be a giver. You have something to offer.

It comes down to this: Do you see yourself as someone worthy? If you do, you won’t be grubbing. You won’t be a money-grubber. You will not be a love-grubber. You will not be an attention-grubber.

So long as you see yourself as needy, you will be a grubber. As you see yourself, you are.

Better to see yourself as a rich man. This is why you NEED to count your blessings. You want to start seeing yourself as a possessor of good fortune. You want to start seeing yourself as fortunate. You are fortunate. You are reading My words. You are listening to the beat of My heart. You are a Being of God. I am your Father. I am your Blessor. I am your Fortune.

Memorize your blessings, and you will never have to think about need again. Everything is within your own power. Your power is not outside you. It is within.

You say, “God, can it really be so simple?”

I say, “Yes, it can be.” I say, “Yes, it is.” How you perceive yourself is how you are seen.

Those in need grovel. You are not to grovel. My child does not have to grovel. He has only to know he is blessed.
